Nothing makes you realize how much you love where you live as when you take out of town family friends out and about. The weather finally broke today and we enjoyed a more normal weather day touring Monterey County.

I realized over the weekend that I need to spend more time doing some of the local touristy things every now and then. We really have some great things to do around here. Thanks Tiffany!

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is awesome. The North Monterey County sloughs provided the old barn shots.

Three-peat? It does not happen very often. Once you reach the pinnacle of any endeavor it is difficult to back it up again and again… First you must believe, then you must execute, and then there is always lady luck. These victories were sweet as most come from behind victories are however, this David vs. Goliath story was not supposed to end this way, or so most thought. Morgan Hill needed two back to back victories against Santa Clara after losing to them early in the tournament. They re-focused their state of mind.

Maybe it is the memories of this same team making it to the biggest stage last year, the Bronco World Series. Also, it was about spending time with what became my baseball family. Or for me, it is because the next stop for regional play is a John D. Morgan Park in Campbell. My sister-in-law’s Dad is John D. Morgan, was Chief of Police in Campbell who passed all to soon in the late seventies. That makes it a family park. Or could it be that watching my 13 year old brother Mike play his all-star games at that very park when I was 16 years old? The most memorable game was when the Manager read the players a poem before the championship game.

It’s All In The State Of Mind

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you won’t.
If you like to win, but don’t think you can,
It’s almost a cinch that you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world you’ll find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in a state of mind.

For many a game is lost
Ere even a play is run,
And many a coward fails
Ere even his work is begun.

Think big and your deeds will grow;
Think small and you’ll fall behind;
Think that you can and you will;
It’s all in a state of mind.

If you think you’re out-classed, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battle don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the fellow who thinks he can!

So in the end my brother Mike took this message to heart and has lived his life according to this philosophy. FYI, little brother is now the Head Coach of the Willow Glen High School baseball team whose 27 – 0 record this year speaks for itself…Jayne
