be·lieve [bih-leev]
–verb (used without object)

1. to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.

We hear about “believing” at an early age. For a lot of us Santa is the first time we find ourselves buying into something we don’t really understand however, we usually enjoy the outcome on Christmas morning.

It was fitting that this sign on Union Square in San Francisco would be the focus of this entry. We were asked by Melanie and Christopher to attend their anniversary date to chronicle the event that marked their one-year anniversary. They were married by a Justice of the Peace and wanted to revisit the City by the Bay properly dressed in formal wedding attire.

Sounded great to us! As Melanie has proven herself quite the organizer, a full itinerary was provided in great detail for the shoot locations for the day. It was just days before Christmas and the city was filled with all the holiday charm you would expect completely decked out for the season. Streets were filled with people going on about their normal lives, some in their work routine, some were shopping and some were on vacation.

We met at Kells Irish Restaurant in the financial district to start the journey. This hidden gem provided a great opportunity to set the tone for the day. Food was amazing!! We noticed right away how willing people were to get involved in the celebration.

Next we took to the streets where we interacted with all kinds of people. Street performers, a florist, cable car riders, young girls that looked in wonder and anticipation of their wedding day when they grow up. We went to the Jessica McClintok store where Melanie purchased her wedding dress over 10 years before meeting Christopher.

The couple went ice skating on the outdoor rink in the cold and rain and had plain old fashioned fun as did every one they came in contact with. The true beauty of spending time with Melanie and Christopher is their affection for each other. This couple lives the married life we all are supposed “believe” in. They work hard at keeping their marriage alive and well and it shows.

After all of this the M & C insisted that we join them for dinner at the 5th Floor Restaurant in the Palamar Hotel. Not wanting to intrude we enjoyed the first two courses together then departed for the late night return to the south bay. We could not help but feel lucky to get the chance to hang out again doing what we love with such an awesome couple.

Baby Ethan was born almost three weeks ago. He was patient enough to let us get some of his first pictures, for that we are thankful! Welcome to the world young man. Here are a few of the images taken…
